South Indian Bridal Hairstyles

In South Indian weddings, the bride dresses in a gorgeous bridal saree which is usually in bright colors such as red, orange or yellow. She is also decked up in gold jewelery with flowers decorating her long hair. The South Indian bridal hairstyle is not an easy style to carry - it can be heavy to support the gold jewelry and floral hair adornments. But the look is well worth to support the weight!

The hair is plaited in one thick braid and jasmine flowers are decorated on the plait. If a South Indian bride does not have the requisite long and thick hair, then the bridal hairstylist will use long haired braided wigs to supplement natural hair. The bride will also adorn garlands on her necks at the wedding ceremony.

Check out the photos of South Indian bridal hairstyles - the signature South Indian hairstyle with jasmine flowers bridal adornments.
